Sound amazing? It’s possible.
Melissa Watrous

Hi, I’m Melissa!

I partner with high-performing women leaders who want to transform their inner voice from critic to champion.

Your inner critic protects you, she’s there for a reason. The irony is we are often creating the very feeling we are trying to avoid within ourselves. The challenge is when we allow that critic to take the lead. Reconnect with your full potential, shift yourself into the driver seat and take charge of your life. You have that power every day.

The word champion has deep meaning for me. I'm a driven leader, former competitive figure skater and skating coach. Combining my experience over the years I have developed a tool box that has helped me lead myself, my teams and my clients to new heights. I can’t wait to share it with you!
Visualize for a moment…
An ice skater gracefully glides to the center of the rink. She has practiced the routine she is about to perform hundreds of times. She is wearing the most beautiful costume. Her skates are tightly tied, her blades are sharp. She feels the rush of adrenaline as she hits her mark, closes her eyes, gets into position and waits for her music to start. Then she begins. She spins, glides and jumps, performing her heart out to a packed rink. She is living her dream. She is on the Balanced Edge. The edge between being bold and showing vulnerability - to be likeable, yet fierce.

I share this visualization because it sums up what we as women go through in our careers.

We perform alone as leaders, but we have support. Just as the skater has a coach, fans, family, friends - we have teams, other leaders, coaches. We are greater together.

There is tremendous power in understanding how we behave as leaders and why. You have the ability to make a conscious choice on how you show up and the way you view your world.

Creating awareness of your thought patterns that prevent you from achieving what you want is key to making the conscious choice to interrupt that pattern. Those default tendencies are already there, but they don’t have to stop you. The feelings of unworthiness, imposter syndrome, perfectionism, being a fraud - it’s all common. You are not alone!

Let’s partner together creating awareness, generating action, and facilitating learning and growth to remove barriers and increase that ever important connection to yourself. Managing your mindset and elevating your energy level, will help you feel:
  • More efficient and productive
  • More passionate, satisfied and fulfilled
  • Less stressed, worried and afraid
  • Closer to yourself and those around you

"Melissa exemplifies what it means to be a capacity builder. She quickly identifies your strengths and how to leverage those to develop the "you" you want to be. Melissa is extremely perceptive, taking time to first listen and then asking probing questions that lead to greater clarity. She has helped me better understand and appreciate the most important parts of who I am and who I have the potential to become. Knowing that change occurs with action, Melissa's coaching sessions always identify next steps matched to my level of comfort and pace. "I didn’t know what to expect from an executive coach. I did know that as a busy executive, I felt stuck at a barrier that prevented me from feeling more satisfied with the work I was doing, more scalable in terms of my energy and output and extremely stressed. I had tried all kinds of tricks and tools and practices in an attempt to squeeze more time out of the day and to fit in more and more and more. And as I did so, I felt less, less, less. Yes, I managed to get more meetings in, take on additional projects, but I felt less energy, less connection and less enjoyment from my work.

So an executive coach? Sure…why not?

The better question is WHY? Melissa was able to connect dots that I had been unable to see, let alone link. From there, she introduced tools that helped get to the core of the barriers I was experiencing. We together propelled my thinking towards a powerful mindset of intentional thoughts followed by meaningful actions. This has helped me to rediscover an energy, calm and confidence I’ve missed.

I’ve always considered myself a high-performing executive with the mindset of continuous improvement. I recommend executive coaching an essential element in everyone’s leadership journey."
